SPG Undergrad Scholarship Deadline - June 18
Article by: Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, Category:
General The June 18 deadline for the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) five undergraduate scholarships for first year students is fast approaching.
The one-time scholarships, valued at $5000 each, are for students enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) in a degree program that is associated with the pulse industry or agriculture. The scholarships are available to applicants who are or whose parent(s) are a registered Saskatchewan pulse producer (i.e. they have sold or grown pulses in the last two years). The applicant must show an interest in pursuing a career related to agriculture, while having completed Grade 12 with a minimum average of 70% based on official transcripts. The applicant must also demonstrate leadership within their school and community.
“With the deadline for the scholarships just around the corner, SPG wants to ensure that all qualified students have submitted their applications,” says Raelene Regier, Variety Program Administrator with SPG. “These scholarships can be a huge help in offsetting the continuingly increasing costs of post-secondary education and SPG is looking forward to recognizing five youth leaders in our province.”
The application deadline for these scholarships is June 18, 2010. For more information on the SPG scholarships, please contact Raelene Regier at (306) 668-1053 or by email at rregier@saskpulse.com or visit www.saskpulse.com.
SPG represents over 18,000 pulse crop producers in Saskatchewan. Accountable to growers and funded through a mandatory, non-refundable check-off, SPG has a producer-elected board of directors comprised of seven pulse growers. SPG has a legislated mandate to build a prosperous pulse industry in Saskatchewan and promote sustainable innovation, growth, and success through leadership, collaboration, and support.
