Slow-Darkening Pinto Bean Opportunity!

Article by: Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, Category: Beans

The Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG), along with Walker Seeds Ltd., Keg Agro Ltd. and the Crop Development Centre (CDC), would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend grower information meetings regarding a new, slow-darkening pinto bean opportunity.

SPG has been investing in bean variety development at the CDC for a number of years with the goal of establishing a viable bean industry in Saskatchewan. In 2005, the above parties signed a long-term agreement with the vision that by focusing pedigreed and commercial seed production, processing and marketing activities in the province, a viable Saskatchewan bean industry would result.  This one-of-a-kind agreement was designed specifically for slow-darkening pinto bean varieties, recognizing the distinct requirements for identity preservation.

With this goal in mind, it is important for Saskatchewan growers to take advantage of this exciting new opportunity.  To facilitate this, we are hosting two grower information meetings.
